Medicaid is at Risk, But a Lot of People Still Don't Know that

As someone who creates content about current events, I’m often tempted to play whack-a-mole with the fresh outrages this regime inflicts on us daily, weekly and hourly. But I have to remind myself: there are many, many Americans who are unaware of most of the things that keep the rest of us up at night. Many are on Medicaid and don’t know that Republicans are planning to axe its funding to make Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk richer. They’re the audience I keep in mind when drawing these explainer cartoons.

Why do I ask people to print and distribute the cartoons?

A lot of the people I’m hoping to reach live in red state news bubbles where Fox, Sinclair and other right wing media are on every TV in every public area. They will never, ever see Substack. They’ve never heard of Heather Cox Richardson. So the only way they are likely to encounter information like, “Republicans are trying to cut $833 billion dollars from Medicaid” is literally by accident. That accident could occur when they see the cartoon you printed on a folding table at the laundromat, inside a supermarket circular, or on a small community bulletin board. Wherever that accident happens, I’d like you to help cause it.
